About the Journal

Lead City University Journal of African Spirituality is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Department of Religious and Intercultural Studies, Faculty of Arts, Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria. The journal is dedicated to advancing academic research, critical discourse, and interdisciplinary scholarship on spirituality, religion, culture, and societal transformation within African and global contexts.

The journal provides a credible intellectual platform for scholars, researchers, academics, and practitioners to engage in rigorous analyses of African spiritual traditions, intercultural relations, indigenous knowledge systems, and contemporary religious experiences. It encourages scholarly dialogue that promotes deeper understanding of the role of spirituality and religion in shaping social, cultural, political, and developmental realities across Africa and the African diaspora.

Lead City University Journal of African Spirituality (LCU-JOAS) A Journal of the Department of Religious and Intercultural Studies, Faculty of Arts, Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria

The Editorial Board of the Lead City University Journal of African Spirituality (LCU-JOAS) hereby invites scholars, researchers, academics, and professionals to submit original and well-researched manuscripts for publication in Volume 1 of the journal, scheduled for publication before the end of June 2026.

LCU-JOAS: Lead City University Journal of African Spirituality is a scholarly journal of the Department of Religious and Intercultural Studies, Faculty of Arts, Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria. The journal seeks to provide a credible platform for scholarly research, critical analysis, and intellectual dialogue on issues relating to spirituality, culture, religion, and societal development within the African context.

Peer Review Process

The journal adopts a rigorous peer-review process and plagiarism screening to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of published articles. Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by experts in the relevant fields, and editorial decisions will be based on the significance, originality, clarity, and scholarly quality of the research.

Submission Guidelines

  • Manuscripts submitted for consideration must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  • Articles should not exceed 8,000 words, excluding references, tables, graphs, diagrams, and figures.
  • The journal accepts manuscripts prepared in APA (7th Edition), Chicago, and Turabian referencing styles.
  • All manuscripts should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format to:

All accepted articles will be published online.
