DIGITAL PEDAGOGIES AND SMART CLASSROOMS FOR SUSTAINABLE EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT TEACHING INNOVATION IN NIGERIA

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed the landscape of teaching and learning globally, necessitating innovative approaches in educational management. This paper examines the role of digital pedagogies and smart classrooms in fostering sustainable teaching innovations in Nigerian higher education institutions. The paper explores how technology-enhanced instructional strategies influence student engagement, learning outcomes, and the overall quality of educational management teaching. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining surveys and interviews with lecturers and students across selected universities in Nigeria. Findings reveal that the integration of digital tools, interactive platforms, and smart classroom technologies significantly enhances instructional delivery, promotes learner-centered practices, and facilitates collaborative and personalized learning experiences. However, challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited digital literacy among educators, inconsistent policy support, and limited access for students were identified as barriers to effective implementation. The paper recommends strategic investment in technological infrastructure, continuous professional development for lecturers, clear policy frameworks, and equitable access to digital resources to ensure sustainable adoption. The paper underscores the importance of aligning digital pedagogies with constructivist teaching principles and institutional management practices to achieve long-term educational transformation. The paper concludes that when effectively implemented, digital pedagogies and smart classrooms can serve as powerful tools for enhancing teaching effectiveness, improving student learning outcomes, and driving innovation in educational management in Nigeria.
