Abstract

There is perceived of poor academic achievement and interest of students in Christian Religious Studies in Nigeria schools today. This situation has been attributed to many factors one of which is poor method of teaching. As the academic is evolving on a timely basis, both methodologically and epistemologically, the humanities stand at a crossroads. The advent of advanced research machines, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), presents both unprecedented opportunities and profound challenges. This paper argues that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the replication of human intelligence by a system of machines. Research machines, particularly those powered by AI, are capable of analyzing, classifying, and generating vast amounts of text data at speeds and accuracies far beyond human capacity. The paper posits that these systems process inputs through a variety of algorithms that identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in large datasets. The paper submits that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has proven instrumental in the translation and interpretation of ancient languages such as Hebrew and Greek. Researchers at Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU), Munich, developed an AI algorithm to translate three hundred thousand (300,000) lines of cuneiform text from ancient Mesopotamia, significantly accelerating the understanding of Babylonian literature.

The paper concludes that at the corridor of academic life, both lecturers and students have increasingly become used to research machines to read, answer questions, and even distort facts. The place of disciplinarity in the advent of AI, and of course, where Christian Religious Studies and other academic disciplines stand, is in the digital age. The paper explored library, online sources, research questions in carrying out the research.
