About the Journal

Journal of Talk Communication is a distinguished, peer-reviewed academic journal domiciled in the Department of Mass Communication, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Nigeria. The journal is devoted to advancing critical scholarship and disseminating cutting-edge research that explores the dynamic intersections of communication, society, and human development.

The journal is published biannually, in March and September, and is currently indexed in reputable academic databases such as Google Scholar, OpenAIRE, Zenodo, CrossRef, and PKP. All submitted manuscripts will be screened for originality using Turnitin.

Scope and Focus

Rooted in the belief that communication is integral to every aspect of human life, Journal of Talk Communication welcomes original scholarly works from, but not limited to, the following domains:

  • Communication Studies – Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, and Strategic Communication
  • Humanities – Language, Literature, Cultural Studies, Philosophy, and Ethical Discourse
  • Social Sciences – Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Development Studies
  • Sciences – Communication Intersects with Scientific and Technological Inquiry
  • Law and Legal Studies – media law, communication rights, freedom of expression, and the rhetoric of justice

The journal strongly encourages interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary submissions, particularly those addressing urgent global and societal challenges such as education, health, climate change, governance, identity, and conflict.

Aims and Mission

The journal’s mission is to provide a dynamic and inclusive platform for researchers, scholars, practitioners, and policy analysts. It aims to:

  • Advance both theoretical and empirical understandings of communication across diverse contexts
  • Encourage critical reflection on how communication shapes individual and collective human experience
  • Promote interdisciplinary research that deepens public discourse and fosters academic innovation.

We invite scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit original, high-quality manuscripts that reflect rigorous scholarship, fresh perspectives, and relevance to current global or local realities for its September’s edition.

Areas of Interest

Submissions are welcome in (but not limited to) the following disciplines:

  • Mass Communication & Media Studies
  • Digital and Strategic Communication
  • Language, Literature, and Cultural Narratives
  • Social and Political Communication
  • Science, Technology, and Environmental Communication
  • Media Law, Ethics, and Legal Discourse
  • Interdisciplinary Approaches to communication in education, health, governance, religion, or migration

Submission Guidelines

Journal of Talk Communication publishes a variety of scholarly contributions, including:

  • Original research articles
  • Theoretical or conceptual papers
  • Literature reviews and meta-analyses
  • Case studies
  • Book and media reviews

Manuscripts must be between 5,000 and 8,000 words (excluding references) and should strictly follow the APA 7th Edition referencing style. All articles must be original and will undergo plagiarism detection via Turnitin.
