This research work examines the stylistic features of elegy as it concerns death in Nsukka area. The main objectives of the study are to analyse elegy from Nsukka area and bring out all the elocutionary in the elegy and explain how the elegy affects the human emotion. The study hinges on oral literature. The data was accumulated from listening, oral interview and observation. The theory used for data analyses is stylistic theory. The study reveals that death elegy is replete with numerous stylistics features such as rhetoric questions, exclamation, metaphor, simile, proverb, parallelism, repetition, vowel lengthening, consonants lengthening and other figurative words. The researchers also observed that Igbo death elegy has some emotional tempestuous that make people around to cry compulsorily. This research will sensitize the Igbo people to look at cry and elegy critically and find out other things therein. It will also contribute to the study of language and literature. The researchers thereby call on all and sundry to understand that elegy is not bad rather it has a lot of functions and benefits in the life of people.
