Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation is transforming every sector of human activity, with education standing at the center of this paradigm shift. Traditional curricula, designed for knowledge acquisition in relatively stable contexts, are increasingly inadequate in preparing learners for the demands of an automated future. This paper takes the position that curriculum design must be urgently reimagined to embed AI both as a subject of study and as a tool for teaching and learning. Drawing on established theories such as Constructivist Learning Theory and Technological Determinism Theory the paper argues that an AI-driven curriculum fosters learner-centered experiences, equips students with hands-on and collaborative skills, and enhances employability within rapidly evolving labour markets. It emphasizes that AI integration can personalize learning pathways, enable adaptive assessment, and ensure that education remains relevant. However, challenges such as teacher preparedness, infrastructural deficits, and ethical concerns surrounding AI use must be addressed proactively. Despite these obstacles, the necessity of aligning curricula with AI-driven realities cannot be overstated, especially in developing contexts where the risk of widening digital divides is acute. The paper concludes that embedding AI into curriculum design is not optional but essential for producing adaptable, innovative, and future-ready citizens. Recommendations include integrating AI literacy across levels of education, investing in teacher professional development, and fostering partnerships between policymakers, educators, and technology experts. This position underscores that the future of education depends on bold, forward-thinking curriculum reforms.
