Despite the abundance of philosophical and ethical discourses, African societies still face persistent challenges such as corruption, inequality, and communicative disconnection that undermine justice and sustainable development. This paper explores the interrelationship between philosophy, ethics, and communication as foundational tools for societal transformation, emphasising the relevance of Indigenous African worldviews such as Ubuntu, Omolúàbí, Akan moral thought, and Igbo communal ethics. Adopting a conceptual and qualitative approach, the study synthesises literature and theoretical perspectives to examine how reflective reasoning, moral responsibility, and communicative engagement can foster social cohesion and moral renewal.
Findings reveal that philosophy provides the foundation for critical reflection, ethics translates such reflection into moral action, and communication serves as the channel through which values are shared, negotiated, and sustained. The study argues that the marginalisation of Indigenous African epistemologies weakens moral consciousness and collective accountability. It concludes that integrating African philosophical values into education, leadership, and governance systems can promote ethical awareness, rebuild trust, and support inclusive development.
